1. Sleep with a hat:
Sleeping with a hat prevents you from losing body heat through your head, so you keep your body temperature better that way.
2. Stay Active:
You can do light exercises or go for a walk to keep warm and if it’s evening you can go and look at the stars. But then you have to be careful not to sweat too much. Because when you get wet, you cool down and get colder, and it’s not good if you can’t change clothes. So it’s best to be well dry to keep warm in a black out.
3. Have a cozy time together
If it’s really cold you can all go into one room and close out. This way the heat stays better in a smaller space, this method has been used for centuries by people to keep warm. There you can light candles and play cards or read a book aloud or tell stories or play a shadow game with a flashlight. But be especially careful with candles and fire.
4. What to watch out for
In a blackout when it’s winter, you have to make sure that children and old people don’t cool down, they are more sensitive to the cold.
5. The cold can sneak in through windows and doors
If the blackout lasts longer, you can hang blankets in front of the windows and doors and put towels down at the threshold to prevent some heat loss and some cold to come into the house. That way you can insulate the house somewhat from cooling down slower.
And try to have a nice time no matter what.
